Knorr-Bremse AG continues profitable growth in the first half of 2018




  • 1H18 group revenues of EUR 3,322.2 million (+11.6% on 1H17)
  • 1H18 group EBITDA of EUR 582.2 million (+12.4% on 1H17), representing a margin of 17.5%
  • Medium term, the company targets annual organic revenue growth of between 4.5% and 5.5%, as well as a group EBITDA margin improvement of 150bp compared to 2017

Knorr-Bremse AG, the global market leader for braking systems and a leading supplier of other safety-critical rail and commercial vehicle systems, today published financial statements based on IFRS for the first half of 2018 as well as retrospectively for fiscal years 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Changes on Knorr-Bremse AG Supervisory and Executive Boards

  • Hans-Georg Härter, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Knorr-Bremse AG, steps down for health reasons
  • Prof. Klaus Mangold appointed to the Supervisory Board of Knorr-Bremse AG and elected its chairman
  • Dr. Jürgen Wilder appointed to the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG with responsibility for the Rail Vehicle Systems division

At an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting of Knorr-Bremse AG, Prof. Klaus Mangold was appointed to the company’s Supervisory Board, effective September 1, 2018. The Supervisory Board simultaneously elected him its new chairman. Prior to this, Hans-Georg Härter had resigned from the Supervisory Board for health reasons; he officially leaves the Board on August 31, 2018.

In addition, Dr. Jürgen Wilder was appointed to the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG with responsibility for the Rail Vehicle Systems division, effective September 1, 2018.

Knorr-Bremse sells Sydac, leading specialist in driving simulators for rail vehicles, to Oktal

Knorr-Bremse AG, the global market leader for braking systems and a leading supplier of other rail and commercial vehicle systems, has sold its Sydac driver training simulators business for rail vehicles to Oktal, a subsidiary of the French Sogeclair group.

Knorr-Bremse strengthens position in rail friction material: acquisition of know-how from Federal-Mogul

Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems has acquired the en-tire know-how and intellectual property rights for the development and production of friction materials for rail vehicle and industrial applications from Federal-Mogul. In turn, Federal-Mogul will receive a back license from Knorr-Bremse, allowing it to continue to supply its own customers with high-quality rail friction materials. An agreement to this effect was signed by the two parties.

Knorr-Bremse RailServices (UK) Ltd. and Kiepe Electric Ltd. (UK) to be sold to holding company Mutares


Knorr-Bremse RailServices UK is one of the leading providers of vehicle services to British and Irish train operators and vehicle owners. | © Knorr-Bremse

Knorr-Bremse is to sell its vehicle services business in UK to the holding company Mutares. The companies have signed an agreement to this effect and closing is expected by autumn 2018.

Hackathon: Knorr-Bremse Challenge awarded third place at TechFest 2018




In a hackathon at the TechFest in Munich in mid-June, Knorr-Bremse challenged talented young people to demonstrate their ability to innovate, based on data from a joint project with DB Cargo. Of the 80 or so teams that took part, the winner of the Knorr-Bremse challenge was ranked third.
